So I did a live pitch to an agent at the SCWA conference today ...

... and she wants to see the full manuscript!

Not only that, but I told her I had written three historical fiction "caper stories" and she wants to see Outlaw Security as well!

Pardon me while I float up to the ceiling for a few minutes ...

Had a chat with the publisher on Zoom ... it was 8pm his time because he's in the UK. He was interested in my writing but says he's had the best luck with shorter books. He would like me to see if I can cut my novels down to around 35K and make a longer series out of them. They've been having more success with shorter books that are part of a ( Read more... )

I've submitted "Outlaw Security" to another publisher. I asked my supposed agent if she wanted to approach the publisher, but she said I could do it. I suspect this means I'm no longer a client, not that we ever signed a contract or anything anyway ... she did say she'd be happy to look over any contract the publisher may send me if I'd like her to ( Read more... )

Got the news that the Western story was accepted by the anthology editor. He said it was "a cracking tale," so I know it's not that I'm a poor writer when agents say the scifi story "doesn't grab them." Hmmm ...

Working on another Western piece ... a short story set mostly at night for a new anthology the Western Fictioneers are putting out. We do this so we don't have to pay massive dues and have a little extra to help with the conferences ( Read more... )
